Four Places To Get Free Hip Hop Music Online

If you're looking for music streaming or downloads, having to pay a fee per song is quite a drag (especially if you have to pay each time you listen to the song). Hip hop music can get your spirits up, but only if you can find an easy source for streaming or downloading that doesn't require you to pay royalties. Here are four sites that offer free hip-hop streaming.

1. Spotify

Spotify offers a free version and a paid version. If you choose the free version, you have to listen to ads (unless you have a really good ad blocker). You can either make a free Spotify account or use your Facebook account to sign in, and you can even share your music choices with your Facebook friends, so that's pretty great. There's plenty of hip hop music on Spotify, including classics and new stuff, and if you don't want to download the app you can simply use the Spotify web player.

2. SoundCloud

SoundCloud offers free streaming and you can listen to tracks from both established and up-and-coming artists. It's sometimes tricky to sort through all the tracks for what you're looking for, because anyone can upload a recording of themselves singing the song that you want to hear, and it may not be quite the same as listening to your favorite artist singing it. It's a great feeling when you can find your favorite music on there, though, and they offer basically all genres.

3. 8tracks

This is another place where you can create your own playlists for free and listen for free. It has limitations, though: you can't stream the same playlist over and over again without taking a break in between. It's a great interactive place where you can listen to other people's hip-hop music or build your own playlists and even explore music you might not have heard before.

4. Pandora

Okay, you've already heard of Pandora. Everyone has. But it is still a great free option, and you can "teach" it what you like to listen to. So if you only want to listen to a certain mood of hip-hop today, you can create a "station" just for that. Then if it plays something you don't want to hear, just let it know you don't want to listen to that and it's usually pretty good at figuring out what you do and don't want on that station.
